Archeage P2W or not?

To start off this topic please keep the discussion mature and appropriate thank you.

I notice there are players coming to Archeage and there are players leaving. I also notice a lot of players consider this game pay to win and personally I don't think that is as true as some believe. So let's sit back and do some analysis with a player that has played this game for almost 3 years now.

A little about myself. I started playing back in the Korean beta in Dec. 2012 Archeage has changed a lot since then. Some for better and some for worst I personally loved the variety of tradepacks 1.0 had to offer and I wasn't a big fan of getting rid of being able to make chum. Throughout the time I have been playing though I have seen advances in the game, new zones that didn't have npc built yet. The future of Archeage is a beautiful one that I hope many are around for, but enough about me let's get on topic.

A lot of players believe Archeage is P2W, and while yes you can technically swipe that card to get a bit of gold through Apex and progress faster through the game it doesn't mean you will have the best gear or can just one shot anyone or pay to skip to level 55. All swiping does is allow you to get possibly a jump onto something before someone else. I have a f2p friend and I mean completely f2p won't even buy apex to get patron. Yea he afks to get labor and doesn't get as much as a player with patron does but he started on the NA server back in the June/July area since he got out of school. He played the game everyday and got to level 55 he was able to get a clipper and so trade runs to freedich late at night. He would sit on a hill side farming just to get the guilda he needed to finally get a merchant. Now that 2.0 has came around he doesn't have the best sails, he doesn't even have the best gear. Last time I saw him he was in some t3 and had a t5 nodachi, most was celestial but he still had a few uniques and 1 divine that he farmed out. I mean he is relevant in pvp and pve. Now let's say he dropped enough money to get 10k gold through apex and still did what he did. Yea he might have full t4 hell it would be all cele or he might drop 5k into that divine but he might not be much further on then he is now because of the gap and farming the materials he needs. I think the main goal for most players is keeping up patron. Or getting patron in the first place. So let's say no one swiped that card for apex well now the game would be p2p entirely I can see how this game is considered pay to play even since patron plays such a large role in labor and the ability to get land.

The biggest thing right now is simple RNG that random number generator that by itself is what keeps this game not p2w I don't see trion selling mythic ayanad bows or a item that is better than any item you can receive in the game itself. (Don't say what about the lava spark) got news for you. It isn't all that and there are some things that it's completely useless for.

So let's get away from this comcept of being p2w and think of it more as pay to progress, because there are going to be better armour and better weapons in the future and all swiping is doing for you is giving you the possibility of getting ahead.
