Raise your pitchforks and call me the devil's lawyer but lets take a look at this.
So the NA Guild "Rage Quit" now known to the entire ArcheAge Community went out to attempt Leviathan.
Taking a look at their own video you can clearly see they are very intended on giving it a proper attempt.
They get contested over the big Fish and all of a sudden it completly bugs out on itself.
Their contestors gets defeated and they shoot down the big Fish - Like everyone in here would have done. If they had not shot him down, their contestors would have, if they somehow kept killing eachother and left it, Someone would have taken his clipper out and captain-cannon the big fish to death. Everyone would have done this, even the mightest of the White Knights. Be it for testing, information, glory, greed or righteusness, sooner or later the bugged fish would have died.
Rage Quit was just lucky/unlucky to get hit by the RNG first.
Different here as many points out is that it is "THE" end-game boss and the last encounter for many, sure it have magnitude but the way it gets killed and looted is no different from an Lusca jumping around in the air (As we all seen with the latest patch).
Sure you can argue that they should have contacted the support but with the 317 people blowing their whistles and making a huge fuss about it, it kinda got told on its own. Not like it was trying to be covered up or hidden, they already knew the word would spread like wild-fire.
The cocky attitude from "Rage Quit" also wasn't really in place and cant be arugued for.
So to summarize what happened:
A cocky guild shot down a big Fish that bugged out on its own
How were they to know they had to contact support when the story was already all over the place.
I have no connection what so ever to this guild but what I do care for is how future cases should be handled?
Many Glitches GHA, Many bug out Serpentis and there are and have been a countless amount of exploits/glitches in this game, everyone handled differently.
Leviathan have a huge value that impact the whole economy and is also a massive achievement so him being glitches sure have magnitude, but the glitch itself is no different from Glenn bugging out on himself and forget to put his Frenzy on.
Should I as a Guild leader feel that my guild have the swinging ban-hammer over our heads for continue killing Glenn even tho he randomly did not put his Frenzy on, or that we stay on max Range at Red Dragon in phase 3 to avoid being shot by Dragon fire?
Since Trion themselves took the decison to remove the Levithan it is clear he have an un-intended bug.
Would it not have been enough to remove the items, give Rage Quit a Slap on the Wrist with a 1 week ban and make a huge announcement how people will be punished for killing a bugged Leviathan?
I genuinly feel sorry for the members of Rage Quit that went out with their guild to have a good raid night and attempt the Leviathan. If you really do have to make an example out of this, keep the ban on the Leader/Officers but keeping the ban on member#32 that repaired a boat while having a good time on Teamspeak really does not feel right.
Seeing all these people rally to throw their pitchforks wild and wishing for the world to burn is just silly. I am sure the guild "Rage Quit" probably made you salty a couple of times but banning them off the server for killing a bugged NPC that you all do every night for your 1500 honor Luscas is no happiness nor achievement anyone should be proud of.
What should instead be considered is the fact that 53 competive players that provided content for an entire server got swept away when the game and the servers are already suffering population drops.
My opinion from the other side of the world as a neutral party on this case.
Unsure if I should Link the Original Video seeing as the first was taken down but if you do watch that video you will see a cocky bunch of people acting the same way everyone would have done in the same situation.
