A New Beginning:

The Founder(s) (Caelev) , (Minerva) and many current members are veteran players with varying degrees of expertise (One member having once been the leader of Half-Souls which later became Valkyrie). For one reason or another they left AA due to unacceptable changes and empty promises. But now with the new release of Morpheus on the horizon, new content and all the improvements. They
have returned to once again to add player driven economics, content, competition and fellowship with the other members of AA who are also starting fresh on Morpheus. There will be so many new things to be discovered once Morpheus launches, especially with the new patch. One thing for certain is Valhalla and its leadership are here to stay. Be it as a small guild of close friends,
or one that grows and can have an impact on the lands of Haranya and its citizens. One thing for certain is that many guilds will rise quickly, and fall just as fast due to drama, making more enemies then they can handle and many other possible reasons. No matter what Valhalla, its members and leadership will persevere through the good times and the hard times, as well as being there
for other guilds of like-minded spirit as allies or just in the name of friendship.

Current State of Valhalla:

A new dawn is before us and we all will be seeking to find our place. Can I say what exactly we will be doing... no. Of course there are goals we want to achieve. But the world isn't static. Things happen which can force plans and goals to change dramatically, and without taking that into consideration, the best laid plans can fail. So that requires planning for various possibilites and make the
most of what is reasonably attainable. The ongoing development of a guild website, providing the means for members to communicate. These are the simple things, but yet a very important part of who we are and what we will become. Such things will always be works in progress as more people become involved and want to shape it.
Like any other guild, we have a desire to acquire land in certain regions, both for guild and personal use. But we encourage personal before guild in the starting land rush. The needs of the guild are non-existent at that time. And once things settle down. We hope to work with other guilds to work out land exchange and so on to promote guild unification within various regions.
Valhalla firmly believes that it is essential for its members to get settled in before we get down to business with guild matters. There will be alot to take in and learn. Time to gather tactical information on the state of the world and then make decisions on what is needed to be done in order to be successful as a whole.

Leadership:
Currently there is room for officers who have experience within AA and have the ability to lead as well as respect those who follow. Should you be interested in taking such a position. contact me thru the guild website, and we will set up an interview. Only serious players need apply.

Transparency:
At no time will members be kept in the dark about what the guild leadership is planning or doing. That also applies to donations and what guild resources are being used for. Donations will be accounted for, logged, and posted on the guild website. Valhalla feels that its members have the right to know what their efforts and hard work are being used for. That they can feel confident in
leaders and know that their best interest is being kept. I don't need to go over how many guilds found themselves being tore apart from the inside out because of a lack of transparency: loss of trust, theft, leaders/officers profiting while members get nothing... You know what I speak of.

Economics:
when we all start fresh on Morpheus there will be no economy and it will be up to every member to start bringing in gold to help shape our economy. To keep things at rates that are fair and equitable to all. Our part in enriching our economy will consist of tradepack runs, farming, husbandry, providing services as needed, fishing and all the various means that experienced players well understand.
Of course there will be many who will try to dominate market prices and take any advantage they can at the expense of others. thats just the way it is, especially since the AH will not be associated with any other server. So Valhalla will strive to keep members aware of the economics and use it accordingly to thrive from and do its best not to be part of creating an inflated market where no one can profit
and which only hurts the overall community. Ultimately we want to see our members profit and fill their pockets, chests, houses with what their hearts desire.

Family:
A guild is an organization that people choose to be part of for one reason or another. Be it companionship, protection, common-goals or whatever. But many get lost in the word 'guild' and lose their own identity. becoming nothing more then a number. That being said, Valhalla promotes its members to formulate families or as we like to call 'clans' with a clan being 3+ members. Each clan having its family head and its members
joined to that family because of common goals. The guild becomes much more effective when its members are working together in such a structure. Getting to know each other. and knowing what each family specializes in and helping one another. Each and every one of those clans/families is what makes Valhalla. Each and every one of those clans/families is what makes Valhalla strong. Each clan directs itself and set their own goals,
but know that when they are called upon, it is to benefit and strengthen the whole.

So-Called Guild Crafters:
We do not nor ever will have designated guild crafters. From our experience that leads to failure. You will have afew members thrive in their crafting profiencies while others struggle. And should one of those 'guild' crafter leave or stop playing then the guild as a whole suffers for it.
All the resources spent lost. What we encourage is every member supporting one another in their chosen proficiencies. trading components needed to help one another thrive and reach ever higher levels of skill. And the guild distributing essential items in a fair manner to support this as well.
We all want the best gear, pots, accessories and so on. But no one person is going to provide an entire guild with what it needs. This is where as a community we will get geared and continue to better ourselves as a whole. Adding to this, we even hope to
work with other allied guilds who may accept the same principles and amiciably trade goods that will see crafting evolve, without spending 100's even thousands of gold in the AH. The new changes coming with the patch makes this a very desireable option.

Guild Size:
Even though it is being known that in time Valhalla would like to have numbers 100+ doesnt mean that we are seeking to be a zerg guild. Such numbers are desired for game content. Participation in the upcoming guild levelling system. Being able to provide members of all levels and experience with
the means to compete in world events, wars against the opposing faction, as well as being able to prosper through our united efforts. As it stands we expect it to take time to reach those goals, and starting out with a handful of members at best. But I am no fortuneteller and cannot predict when our
membership will blossom or remain as is. Yes we are openly recruiting and desire others to find their home with us. But the quality of our gaming experience is foremost and having fun with whatever we do.

PvP:
It is the state of the world. It is the natural order. We are not carebears, nor do we shy from fighting. But we do live by our own code on how we fight, who we fight and why we fight.
We will not pk same faction for tradepacks or anything else of value. As this only weakens our faction and creates short and long term disputes and problems which can hinder the growth of the
guild.
- We do not tolerate PKing of the same faction without just cause. This means that we will defend ourselves and our guild and carry swift justice to those who harm our members. And if purpling up
is required to do this then so be it.
- However, we have a saying in Valhalla, "Whatever happens in Hasla stays in Hasla." Valhalla fully supports their members in securing Hasla hunting grounds, or any other major areas that requires
grinding. What this implies is that any Red or same faction that tries to step in and take an area that is already claimed by us will be asked to find another spot, and should that not work,
we will force them from said area. But we prefer this as a last means of resort and used predominantly to secure our already occupied hunting grounds. The intention behind this isn't to create hostilities between
our guild and other same faction guilds, but to establish mutual respect.
- consensual pking is acceptable, ie. Dueling, fun between friends, etc.

The Law of the Land:
Every member is encouraged to profit from any 'illegal' farms they may find and we do not look upon that as stealing or breaking any law. Such farms are called 'illegal' for a reason and have no protection. We have all done it
We have all faced a jury of our peers, and more often then not been found guilty. Should you happen to plant outside of protected lands, we ask that you not hold any grudges because we all risk our 'illegal' farms being found.
Just as we ask all our members not to report footprints if their 'illegal' farm is discovered and subsequently raped. This is all just part of the world and we all know the risks and labor we spend doing this with the possibility of
having nothing to show for it.

Levelling Requirement:
Currently we have no set time or requirement for any member to reach a certain level. We know of many ways that an individual can level to 50+ within a matter of a day. But again enjoying the content at ones own pace is important to us.
Of course there will be afew us us breezing thru the levels, but that is a personal choice and nothing more. Should it become a necessity to see members level up because situations call for it, then that will be addressed.

Communication:
Currently we have multiple forms of communication. From TS, Raidcall, and a new option we are weighing called GameVox. No matter which we decide to use. Communication is very important within AA. From Pvp, Raids, getting to know one another and so much more.
Its not required for anyone to speak or be sociable on the various available voips we have at our disposable. But again, being able to listen in and know what is going on and what is expected of them during the various events that will happen is greatly needed.
If you are interested or have any questions, feel free to comment below or send me a private message.

To finish this up, the core principles of Valhalla reside in its 9 Noble Virtues:

Valhalla's existence is based on 9 virtues which is represented in its crest, 3 over-lapping triangles (called the Valknut), each point of the triangle representing one of the 9 virtues

The Nine Noble Virtues fit perfectly into the lifestyle of Valhalla's members, as one would expect since they originated from a warrior culture.
Now, let’s delve into what these virtues are and which every member of Valhalla uphold...

Courage

Without courage, you cannot live up to your code of honor for very long. The word “courage” comes from the Latin word “heart.” We will be known for our courage and bravery in battle, but courage applies to more than simply being brave in battle.

It takes courage to do what you know is right, especially when those around you disagree with your point of view. Your personal values may be challenged on a daily basis. Standing for what you believe can take a lot of courage.

This does not mean that you act in rash and tactless ways. There is a difference in being courageous and in being stupid.

The test of courage comes when we are in the minority.
Emerson

Truth

Truth is simply being honest about what you believe or know to be true and right. Simply put – don’t lie. This sounds very straightforward, but lying has become so commonplace that it is almost expected in today’s world. It shouldn’t be this way for the true warrior.

Lying, in most cases, is an act of cowardice. Live according to what you believe in your heart to be right and you will have no reason to lie about your actions. If you do not think an action is right – don’t do it. If something is not true – don’t say it.

There is always a way to be honest without being brutal.
Author Dobrin

Honor

Without honor, there can be no true warrior of Valhalla. Honor is not black and white. It is hard to define. It is up to every member of Valhalla to determine his or her honor; your reputation is determined by other people’s thoughts, for the most part.

It is your intentions and your actions which determine your honor, not what someone else thinks.

Our own heart, and not other men’s opinion, form our true honor.
Samuel Coleridge

Fidelity

The word fidelity simply means being faithful. There are many things that you can be faithful to, not all of them of honorable. Fidelity as used in these virtues refers to being faithful your guild and your ingame family. The warrior will defend his guild and family no matter what the cost.

Be your friend’s true friend.

The Havamal

Discipline

Discipline, mostly means self-discipline. It takes discipline to to achieve one's goals, work as a family and to see the guild succeed. The true warrior lives according to his own code, rather than according to what corrupt politicians or cultural standards dictate. This means that he must exercise a great deal of self-discipline.

What lies in our power to do,
it lies in our power not to do.
Aristotle

Hospitality

The members of Valhalla are expected to treat others with respect and dignity. Until they demonstrate they are not worthy of that respect or dignity

We should behave to our friends as we

would wish our friends to behave to us.
Aristotle

Industriousness

Industriousness simply means the willingness to work hard at whatever you do. Every member of Valhalla has to work hard and smart to take care of his/her guild and family.

This doesn’t just apply to your vocation(s), but to everything you do.

Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than
anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself.
Henry Ward Beecher

Self-Reliance

Every member of Valhalla strives to ensure that he or she doesn’t have to depend on others for his or her survival. The member is responsible for taking care of themself and their family; this is their first and foremost duty.

Being dependent on someone else for your own needs puts you in a dangerous position. Being frugal and financially stable is an important part of being self-reliant. Do your best not to have to depend on other people for your welfare.

It is thrifty to prepare today for the wants of tomorrow.

Aesop

Perseverance

No one is perfect and you will make mistakes. You cannot simply give up and quit when you fall short of your mark. You must persevere. You must not give up.

Falling short doesn’t mean failing, it means learning and being determined to do better next time. Perseverance is essential to Valhalla.

There is nothing impossible to him who will try.
Alexander the Great

These are the ideals of Valhalla and by which we strive to implement into our lives within Archeage
