Dude, you're not the only one. XL is very hush-hush about planned future races, so we have very little out-of-game details on them except for some basic timeline stuff. IN-game, though, they play a pretty important part in the Dewstone Plains story arc. (Which, as a dirty dirty easterner, you might not know about. So... here!)If you're just doing your campaign quests, you basically rush through Dewstone looking for any clues about the Dahuta Cult or the Bloodhands and then leave as soon as possible. But if you do the sidequests, there's a whole secondary story going on there. The Nuian kingdoms of Two Crowns and the Crescent Throne are attempting to rebuild the Barkbridge Trail, an old trade route that fell into disrepair (presumably during the Eclipse War). This is why you see all those people workin' on the road in northern Dewstone, where Lord Royster and his troops are overseeing the road's construction. Royster and his boys are havin' a bit of trouble, though, (or as he'd call it, a "spot of bother") because the whole area is currently overrun with bandits. And even worse, the bandits have somehow gotten their hands on a nearly endless supply of deadly stone golems! It turns out these golems are being created by a group of renegade dwarves known as the Stonebrothers, who have come to Dewstone to mine the crystalline hearts of the elemental colossi that can be found there. These heartstones apparently possess incredibly powerful anima, which can in turn be used to power all sorts of things--like an army of killer stone golems sold to the highest bidder, for example. As if a group of dwarven black market arms dealers wasn't cool enough, you soon run into a pair of dwarven agents/bounty hunters (one calls himself a "Chaser") who request your aid in obtaining evidence of the Stonebrothers' illegal activities. It seems the Powers That Be in the dwarven kingdom don't appreciate it when the secrets of their craft are sold to petty thugs and bandits, and are pretty friggin' pissed. But according to dwarven law, they can't legally move against the Stonebrothers without irrefutable proof of their crimes. (Note: once you find this proof, there is a rather ominous line about "hunting down" the "traitors." We still don't know exactly how dwarven justice works, but for some reason I don't think those guys are ever gonna see the inside of a jail cell.)All in all, maybe not the BEST insight into dwarven society... but still pretty interesting, I think. And pretty easy to reach if you wanted to make a quick western alt and play through! =P
