How will you handle alt accounts and multi-boxing in ArcheAge: Unchained?
ArcheAge: Unchained will come with a 3 Accounts per Player (not household) restriction. Additionally, you will not be able to run multiple clients at the same time.
Bypassing these restrictions can result in disciplinary action taken on the accounts in question.
I'm confused and frustrated at this restriction.
You remove the pay to win from the game. Then insert a limitation that encourages, if not requires the purchase of additional computers to run extra clients at the same time. Why?
I have used two desktops or desktop/laptop combinations in games in the past going back as far as Dark Age of Camelot and Everquest. I have also run multiple clients on one pc (my unfortunate situation currently), from as many as 4 with free to play ArcheAge, to 8 with EvE Online.
Everything I can do by alt tabbing, I can do better with a second (or fourth) physical computer. Not only that, each additional client is a not insignificant hit to my main client's performance and the settings I can play it at. It is by far inferior to a separate pc in every way.
So why the restriction? Why not limit it to three unchained clients at a time, or at the very least two?
I understand you want to limit the ability of all these players who plan to run 10 accounts using extra hardware and VPN clients to run 30 accounts with the same hardware instead. But what these short sighted people fail to grasp, is that when they pour all the gold from 10 accounts into one character, they will just get flagged for buying gold and banned for RMT instead.
Note I said unchained clients. I have been running both the unchained PTS and the live server free to play version simultaneously, as I catch up on the game changes. Once the F2P servers move to easy anti cheat, will I no longer be able to do that as well? Will the regular game also introduce this restriction again?
I want to pick up a second account today and probably a third a week or so after launch. But I do not have the time in my life to do what I need on one, log out, log back in on a second (through a likely login queue) and do what I need to there. I want to be able to labor burn on a second account, while my main does low input tasks - as many others will already be "paying to win" to be able to do. I don't even need all three logged in at the same time, but I feel two at a time (alternating the 2nd and 3rd account as they run out of labor) are practically a must to compete with high end players in the current state of the game.
Do I have to go buy a laptop now? Not only that, but I'm a disabled player with only one arm. If the second account is to ever see combat or be used with any efficiency, I would need another Logitech G600 20 button mouse to go with it.
